Sea Dwellers - A personal project I have been chipping away at over the past few months for my personal project titled NOMADS.
The design is based on a future state of the earth where rising sea levels have taken over large land masses.

'In anticipation of the rising tides, construction began on robust architectural islands that would house small communities and provide a place of refuge from the changing environment. Many plains became swamps, and some shallow oceans. The gradual change in the landscape led to seaweed farming becoming the primary agricultural product and staple in people's diets within these newly formed villages.'

My aim was to keep this design minimal and functional, yet try and maintain a beauty through simple and bold shapes that had purpose. The architectural mass was designed to incorporate a 'wave breaker wall' for sudden, incoming tidal waves and rises in sea levels. The housing is suspended as a last resort to protect the people, and keep them above extreme flood level. The sloping geometry allows for water to fall off and away from the buildings levels. Permanent cranes are a foundation for this structure to assist communities with construction, maintenance and labour.

Hoping to continue the designs for this world! So stay tuned for more!
